    The Procedure

A common sign of ageing is loss of volume, resulting in sunken, drooping or wrinkled skin. Dermal fillers are a non-invasive treatment which is safe and long lasting. We inject tiny amounts of the naturally occurring gel-like molecule, hyaluronic acid, to replace lost volume and restore the youthful appearance to your skin after one quick treatment.

Most commonly, dermal fillers are used around the nose (nasolabial folds), mouth (marionette lines) and lips, but they can also be used to restore volume in the hands which can appear veiny and wrinkled with age.

    How it works

Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body, where it binds water molecules giving volume, shape, hydration and elasticity. As we get older we start to produce it less, reducing skin elasticity. Injected fillers are naturally broken down and readily absorbed by the body over a 6-12 month period.

At the Spirit Rejuvenation Clinic we only use only the highest grade fillers. A numbing cream is applied to the skin prior to treatment; the dermal filler also contains a small amount of local anaesthetic to minimise discomfort. A small volume of hyaluronic acid is then injected into areas that we have decided on in your initial consultation.

    FAQs

What will Dermal Fillers do for my appearance?

Due to many factors, diet, sun exposure, smoking, genetics or simply the natural ageing process, your skin will start to lose it volume and elasticity. Dermal fillers use a hydrating and volumising gel to ‘plump up’ the skin’s surface, not only adding volume but also reducing the appearance of lines, wrinkles and marks. Overall, you will receive a gentle lifting effect, enhancing your natural facial features.

What areas can be treated with Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers can be used for non-invasive, non-surgical enhancements including:

    • Lip enhancement
    • Cheek enhancement
    • Disguising eyebags/filling tear troughs
    • Nose reshaping
    • Chin enhancement
    • Non-surgical jowl reduction
    • Hand enhancement

When will I start to see the results?

With Dermal Fillers, results are immediate. There is some minor swelling and possibly some bruising, but for the most part, you should see the results the same day. After a week, most of the swelling should be resolved.

We will usually slightly underfill the treated area and evaluate the appearance 2 weeks later in your complimentary review. Individual swelling reactions to the injection can make it more difficult to differentiate between swelling and filler, we believe it is far more preferable to have two injections and get the result you want, rather than an overfilled treatment which could require correction.

How long will the results last for?

Result longevity will depend on the area that is treated and what type of filler is used. We will discuss this more specifically with you in your consultation, but fillers are a long lasting treatment, with extra volume staying for anywhere between 6 and 12 months.

    Can anyone get Dermal Fillers?

Most people are eligible for Dermal Fillers. Anyone with a bleeding disorder, on aspirin or other blood thinners, or with uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure) may not be able to receive treatment. Allergies and sensitivities to the substances used will also need to be checked before treatment can take place.

    Is it painful?

Treatment is administered with numbing cream and a small amount of local anaesthetic to minimise feeling from the needle. Pain tolerance varies from patient to patient, but it will not be very painful. Some feel mild discomfort as the gel goes into the skin.

What will I look like immediately after treatment?

The fillers will have an immediate volumising effect. There may be some swelling, and in some cases some mild bruising, but overall you won’t look dramatically unnatural. After a week all swelling should have reduced and you will be left with younger looking skin.

    Is it safe?

Dermal Fillers, when carried out by a trained professional, are safe. At Spirit Rejuvenation we have an extensive knowledge of anatomy, medical knowledge and certifications in the products that we use. As the fillers are constructed using substances naturally occurring in the body, they can be dissolved or removed if required without surgery.

Mild side effects may occur, such as rashes, swelling or bruising and in rare cases the filler can move from the intended area over time. We will be there post treatment to answer any questions and address any concerns if you notice any of these side effects.
